How do I even begin?
When making the decision to become a Big, I always knew I’d be a part of a great organization, full of wonderful people, however, I would never have imagined gaining such an amazing friend & sister along the way. I like to think that I made an excellent choice when choosing my Little, but I can’t take all the credit. You and your family chose me too and have welcomed me into your family since day one and I am forever grateful. Not only did I gain an amazing, lifelong friend, I also gained one of the most friendly kind-hearted families. I’m not quite sure how I got so lucky, but boy am I ever glad I did.
From the day I met your Mom, to our first meeting, walking along the water, crying in cars, sweating at CrossFit, dancing our hearts out, laughing at the movies, screaming at haunted houses, and celebrating birthdays and engagements, I knew we had a special bond. I have been lucky enough to watch you make changes and grow over the last 2.5 years and I can’t wait to see what happens over the next 10, 20 or even 30 years. I’ve watched you step outside of your comfort zone and flourish along the way. You’ve taught me to do the same and to take chances in life, as long as it doesn’t have to do with spiders. You’ve opened up to me about some of the most sensitive topics in your life and I feel honoured that you wanted to share these parts of your life with me and felt that you could trust me during the hard times.
Please know that although our journey with Big Brothers Big Sister may be coming to an end, our friendship will forever remain. I’ll always be there to lend a helping hand, a shoulder to lean on and a set of ears willing to listen whether it be 1:00pm or 1:00am.
